Since 1988, owners John and Anna Saoulidis have run the Ridgefield staple, which officially closed its doors as of Tuesday, Dec. 31. The location will now be run by new owner Kosta Efstathiades, whose father sold the spot to the Saoulidis’ more than 30 years ago.

The Saoulidis’ cited the rigorous schedule of running a business, and said that they will miss their customers and the connections they’ve developed over the years.

According to Efstathiades, the employees will keep their positions, and the deli will keep the same name and offer the same services, including some new options for customers.

As for John Saoulidis, he’s not leaving the foodservice industry, and customers will be able to visit him at Gyro Pita on Route 7 (Danbury Road) in Ridgefield, where he plans to embark on his next employment adventure.
